Neuropathy Treatment & Acupuncture in Clearwater, FL
Burning feet at night, tingling hands or numbness affecting daily life? Discuss complementary acupuncture care with Dr. Kim Windschauer, AP, alongside the treatment you receive from your physician.

A calm, coordinated approach
When your feet burn at bedtime or your hands feel numb during everyday tasks, the problem is more than discomfort. Sleep, walking and confidence can all be affected. These symptoms deserve an evaluation of their cause, not just an assumption that they are neuropathy.
At Acupuncture of West Florida in Clearwater, Dr. Kim Windschauer, AP, reviews your symptoms, history and current medical care. Acupuncture and ATP Resonance BioTherapy™ are part of AWF’s stated neuropathy approach. The conversation focuses on appropriate complementary care, realistic goals and reassessment — not a guarantee of nerve repair.
Straight answers
The questions patients ask us first
Why do my feet burn when I try to sleep?
Burning or tingling may be a neuropathy symptom, but other causes are possible. Tell your clinician when it starts, whether one or both feet are affected, and whether you also have numbness or weakness. Avoid heating pads on numb feet and check for unnoticed injuries.
Can numb feet make me unsteady?
Altered sensation can affect walking, but balance problems have many possible causes. Arrange medical evaluation for new changes. Keep paths well lit and clear, use handrails, and ask about physical therapy or a walking aid if needed. Acupuncture is not presented here as a way to prevent falls.
What does it cost, and do you take insurance?
We're a self-pay clinic, so there's no insurance surprise billing. You get a superbill many plans reimburse out-of-network, and HSA/FSA cards are accepted. Neuropathy series pricing is quoted up front at your consultation.
When should I seek medical help rather than wait?
New or worsening weakness, walking changes, foot wounds or signs of infection need medical attention. Sudden one-sided weakness or trouble speaking requires emergency care. Do not wait for an acupuncture consultation to investigate an urgent change.
What should I bring to a consultation?
Bring your medication list and relevant medical information. Note when symptoms began, their effect on sleep or walking, and any falls or near-falls. Tell Dr. Kim about diabetes, chemotherapy or other care so the discussion stays coordinated with your medical team.
What changes can we realistically track?
Discuss discomfort, sleep disruption and everyday function rather than assuming nerves will recover. Agree on goals and when to reassess. Continue your medical treatment and safety precautions even if pain improves.

Our approach
How treatment works
Acupuncture
Individualized point selection for complementary, symptom-focused care. Response varies; treatment is not a promise of nerve recovery.
ATP Resonance BioTherapy™
A gentle frequency-based microcurrent therapy used alongside acupuncture in Dr. Kim's neuropathy protocol.
Medical coordination
Continue prescribed treatment and discuss any supplements with your clinician, particularly during cancer treatment. Addressing the underlying cause remains important.
Progress tracking
Discuss changes in discomfort, sleep and daily function. Reassess the plan if it is not helping; less pain alone does not prove sensation or balance has recovered.
The research
Evidence & guidelines
A small randomized trial (Bao and colleagues, JAMA Network Open, 2020) reported symptom improvement with acupuncture for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. This does not establish a cure, nerve repair or fall prevention, and findings cannot automatically be applied to every cause of neuropathy. Discuss the evidence and limitations with your treating clinician.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Does acupuncture help neuropathy?+
Acupuncture may help some people manage symptoms, but evidence and responses vary. It is not a cure or a promise of nerve repair. Dr. Kim reviews your symptoms and medical care before discussing whether complementary treatment is appropriate.
Where can I discuss neuropathy care in Clearwater?+
Acupuncture of West Florida is at 3001 Executive Drive, Suite 150, Clearwater, FL 33762. Request a consultation to discuss Dr. Kim’s approach and whether it fits alongside your medical treatment.
Do I need to stop my neuropathy medication?+
No. Continue prescribed treatment as directed. Medication changes belong to your prescribing clinician. Acupuncture does not replace care for diabetes, cancer-treatment effects or another underlying cause.
How long before I feel a difference?+
There is no reliable session count that applies to everyone. Discuss realistic goals, the proposed visit schedule and costs at your consultation. Progress should be reassessed, including whether the approach is helping enough to continue.
Do you see people with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy?+
Yes. AWF offers complementary care for chemotherapy-related neuropathy symptoms. Keep your oncology team involved, especially during active treatment, and report new or worsening symptoms to them. Acupuncture does not replace oncology care.
Do you accept insurance or HSA/FSA?+
We don't take insurance — we're self-pay — but we provide a superbill that some insurance providers will accept for reimbursement. HSA and FSA are accepted. We offer package pricing for patients doing a full neuropathy series.
Why do my feet burn more at night?+
Burning or tingling can occur with peripheral neuropathy; NIDDK describes symptoms that are often worse at night in diabetic neuropathy. Other problems can also cause burning feet. Timing alone does not establish a diagnosis, so arrange medical evaluation for new or worsening symptoms.
Can neuropathy affect balance?+
Changes in sensation or strength can affect walking and balance. New unsteadiness or falls need medical evaluation because neuropathy is not the only possible cause. Less pain does not prove that balance or protective sensation has improved.
