Cupping uses gentle suction to decompress soft tissue, increase local blood flow, and release fascial restriction. In practice, Dr. Kim adds 10–20 minutes of cupping to an acupuncture visit, or books it as a focused standalone session for patients whose primary complaint is muscular.

Do the marks bruise?+
Cupping can cause bruising and temporary skin discoloration. The marks do not establish healing or toxin removal. Tell your practitioner about skin conditions and medicines that increase bleeding risk.
Can cupping replace deep-tissue massage?+
It addresses similar issues but through different mechanisms. Many of our patients find cupping more effective and less painful than deep-tissue massage.
