A calm, coordinated approach
Vitamin B12 injections are now available at Acupuncture of West Florida in Clearwater. It is a quick, straightforward visit — a small shot in the arm — and most patients add it to an acupuncture appointment they are already coming in for.
B12 supports normal nerve function, red blood cell formation and the way your body turns food into energy. People whose levels run low often notice it as tiredness, low mood or pins and needles, and absorption drops with age, with certain medications and after some digestive surgeries.
This is a wellness service, not a substitute for medical care. We do not diagnose deficiency or anemia, we will not tell you to stop anything your physician prescribed, and if your levels are already normal we will say so rather than put you on a standing schedule.

Our approach
How a B12 visit works
Quick intake
Your history, medications, allergies and any recent B12 bloodwork, so we know whether the injection is appropriate for you.
The injection
A small intramuscular shot, usually in the upper arm. It takes a minute and most people feel brief pressure only.
Aftercare
You go straight back to your day. Mild soreness at the site is the most common effect and settles quickly.
Sensible schedule
If repeat injections make sense, Dr. Kim sets an interval with you — no open-ended packages.
The research
Evidence & guidelines
Vitamin B12 injections are an established way of raising B12 levels in people who are deficient or who absorb it poorly, and correcting a genuine deficiency can improve fatigue and neurological symptoms. In people whose levels are already normal, evidence that extra B12 boosts energy or performance is weak. We are straightforward about that distinction.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is a B12 injection?+
It is a small intramuscular shot of vitamin B12. B12 is a nutrient the body needs for normal red blood cell formation, nerve function and energy metabolism. An injection delivers it directly, which is why it is often used by people who do not absorb B12 well from food or supplements.
Who tends to ask for them?+
People following vegetarian or vegan diets, adults over 50, people who have had gastric or bowel surgery, and people taking medications such as metformin or long-term acid reducers, which can lower B12 absorption. Some patients simply use them as part of a wellness routine.
Will a B12 shot give me more energy?+
If your B12 is genuinely low, correcting it can help with tiredness. If your levels are already normal, extra B12 is not a proven energy booster, and we will tell you that rather than sell you a series. Fatigue has many causes and is worth discussing with your primary physician.
Do I need bloodwork first?+
We recommend you know your recent B12 level if you have one, and we are glad to work alongside your primary physician. We do not diagnose deficiency here and we do not replace medical care for anemia or any other condition.
Does it hurt, and how long does it take?+
It is a quick shot in the upper arm or hip, and most people describe brief pressure and nothing more. The visit itself takes only a few minutes, which is why most patients add it to an acupuncture appointment.
How often can I have one?+
That depends on why you are having them. Dr. Kim will discuss a sensible schedule with you at your visit rather than committing you to an open-ended package.
Is it safe?+
Vitamin B12 is water-soluble and generally well tolerated, though any injection carries a small risk of soreness, bruising or an allergic reaction. Tell us about your medical history, medications, pregnancy and any allergies before your first injection. If you have a known cobalt or cobalamin allergy, or Leber's disease, this is not appropriate for you.
