Can acupuncture help plantar fasciitis?+
Acupuncture has been studied for plantar heel pain, with trials reporting reduced pain for some patients alongside standard care such as stretching, supportive footwear and orthotics. Results vary from person to person, and we will give you an honest read at your consultation rather than promising an outcome.
Where do the needles go — in my foot?+
Some points are on the foot and heel, and others are in the calf, ankle and lower leg, because the calf and Achilles usually contribute to heel pain. Foot points can be briefly sharp; most people find it very manageable and the session is short.
How many sessions will I need?+
Most people commit to a short initial series so we can judge the response, commonly once or twice a week for several weeks, followed by a reassessment. You get a written plan with session count and cost at your first visit.
Do I still need my orthotics and stretches?+
Yes. Acupuncture here is used alongside supportive footwear, night splints, stretching and any physical therapy you are doing, not instead of them. We will not tell you to stop anything that is working.
What if my heel pain is something else?+
Heel and foot pain can come from nerve involvement, a stress fracture, arthritis or neuropathy rather than the plantar fascia. We do not image or diagnose here; if your presentation does not look like a fascia problem, we will say so and suggest you see your physician or podiatrist.
Could my foot pain be neuropathy?+
Burning, numbness or tingling across both feet, especially at night, points more toward nerve involvement than plantar fasciitis. That is treated differently — see our neuropathy page — and Dr. Kim will tell you which picture your symptoms fit.
Do you take insurance?+
