Which side effects respond best
The strongest evidence base is for chemo-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), chemo-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), aromatase-inhibitor joint pain, hot flashes, and cancer-related fatigue.
Bao 2020 (JAMA Oncology) showed acupuncture significantly reduces CIPN. Molassiotis 2012 established acupuncture as an NCCN Category 1 intervention for cancer-related fatigue. Garland 2019 (JNCI) demonstrated durable insomnia improvement in cancer survivors.
How treatment fits around chemo
For CINV, we typically treat 24 hours before infusion and again 48–72 hours after. For CIPN, weekly sessions during and immediately after chemo produce the best outcomes. All plans are coordinated with your oncology team.
